Renowned portrait artist Radha Mohan Babu was born on January 7, 1907, in Patna City.
He earned his law degree from the Law College in Patna in 1929. He pursued his artistic practice under the
guidance of Munshi Mahadev Lal, a renowned Patna Kalam artist.
On January 25, 1939, he established the Art School in Patna, which is now known as the College of Art
and Crafts. Shri Radha Mohan Babu served as its principal until 1967. Throughout his career, he was honored
with numerous awards.
As a founder, he played a vital role in the development of art in Bihar. Radha Mohan Babu is considered
the founder of the progressive art movement that defines modern-day Bihar. He lived his life with the utmost
sincerity and was primarily known as a portrait artist. Through his tireless efforts, he fostered a vibrant art culture
in Bihar, remaining dedicated to the growth and promotion of art throughout his life.
